Dogs for the Deaf - Dog Walk
The 2007 Dogs for the Deaf Dog Walk celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the founding of Dogs for the Deaf, and the 17th Anniversary of the popular Dog Walk. Mark your calendar for the 2008 Dog Walk: Saturday, June 7th!
The annual Dog Walk supports Dogs for the Deaf, headquartered right here in Southern Oregon, which is the oldest and largest hearing dog training center in the world. KTVL is happy to be a major corporate sponsor of this worth while annual event. Founded in 1977, Dogs for the Deaf spends its time and efforts training select dogs for a period of 5 to 6 months so they can assist those who are hearing-impaired. The Dog Walk has provided a much-needed source of support and funding for keeping the valuable work of Dogs for the Deaf rolling along.

Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon 2007
KTVL NEWS10 has partnered with the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon since 1970. Each year, individuals and the business community of Southern Oregon and Northern California make a difference by accepting the challenge to raise money for Jerry's kids! In 2006, we raised over $178,000 -- and over 70% of this money stays right here in our own region! Nationally, over $64 million was raised.
Join hosts Trish Borucki, Kevin Lollis, Libby Dowsett, Erin Guy and the entire News10 team for this years 20-hour, star-studded variety show that simultaneously entertains, informs and raises funds for the service and research programs of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The 2007 MDA Telethon will begin at 8pm on Sunday, September 2nd, and continue non-stop through 4pm on Labor Day, Monday, September 3rd. Tune in and call in your pledge to support your neighbors who are fighting
these devastating neuromuscular diseases.
KTVL/RVMC Kids' Day
Kids' Day, presented by KTVL News10 and Rogue Valley Medical Center, is an event for kids and families. It is held at Hawthorne Park in downtown Medford and its purpose is to encourage parents to spend time with their children. Business and service organizations team up with News10 to provide a fun,free day of activities for all to enjoy! Attendance is estmated at over 6,000 kids and their families.

"Scouting for Food" Gathers Tons of Food!

Each year, KTVL News10 and Albertson's team up with the Boy Scouts to help feed the hungry in Southern Oregon and Northern California.
Since 1983, the Crater Lake Council has held a food drive for the hungry. The idea was adopted by National Boy Scouts and given the name Scouting for Food "Good Turn." It has proven to be a successful campaign both nationally and locally. Food collected from Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, and Siskiyou counties totaled more than 72,000 lbs. in past years!
As the media sponsor, KTVL-TV has provided promotional support to Scouting for Food for the last decade. This coverage, coupled with Albertson's commitment to provide bags has ensured the food drive's success.
The Boy Scouts will deliver a flyer to your doorstep on Saturday, November 10th, and will return to pick up the bag of your donated food on Saturday,November 17th.
