WHITE CITY, Ore. – You can hear the gunshot that killed a White City man on recently released 911 call.
On Wednesday,
the Jackson County grand jury decided that shooting was justified. It
happened in August at a home off Andrea Drive, when Norman Thomas shot
Mark Corsbie as he tried to break into his home.
Karen Loomis,
with the Jackson County District Attorney’s office says the jury heard a
number of 911 tapes from neighbors and Thomas’s daughter, Kristina.
“He’s saying somebody is going to drive by and shoot him,” Kristina said to a dispatcher.
Corsbie's daughter also called police for help. She was looking for her dad, who was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
“He’s acting really loopy like calling and saying people are out to get him,” Corsbie’s daughter said on the tapes.
Eventually,
Corsbie ended up at Thomas's home off Andrea Drive. Kristina called 911
a number of times, saying Corsbie seemed frightened and was asking to
go inside her house.
“I can't let you in my house, I can't let
you in the garage,” Kristina said on the tape. “He's begging me to let
him in so that he can hide from them.”
When Corsbie tried to get
in, Thomas pulled out a handgun. Thomas testified to the jury he though
his daughter was being attacked or killed.
An autopsy reveals
Corsbie died from a gunshot wound and tested positive for meth,
Methadone and Oxycontin at the time he was killed.
The Thomas family declined to be interviewed. They did say they want to move on from the incident.
