MERLIN, Ore. -- A family hit hard by the sluggish economy, got some much needed help after winning the lottery.
Riley Gunn bought a Mega Millions ticket in early January. He picked fives numbers at random. Later that night, he checked his numbers online and they matched.
Riley then woke up his wife, to verify the numbers.
"She sees the ticket in my hand and she says you better not be kidding me?" said Riley. "I told her I would never do that."
Misti said "I didn't jump up and down and scream. I was just in disbelief."
What the couple didn't realize, was their matching ticket had been multiplied by four times, totaling $1 million.
After depositing the money to the bank, the Gunn's headed to their church and paid their tithes.
The family put a bid on a house in California. Riley says that's where he wants to open a new business with his wife.
"It's going to make the difference in our lives to have the opportunities to do things we've always wanted," said Riley.
