MEDFORD, Ore. -- A suspected drunk driver crashed through two fences and into a family's front yard late Tuesday night.
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Medford Police say Nate Knutson ran his truck through one fence then another near the intersection of Mace Road and Howard Avenue.
Lt. Mike Budreau says Knutson fled the scene, leaving his car behind. Budreau says they caught up with him a few hours later.
Knutson was arrested and booked at the Jackson County Jail on charges including a DUII, reckless driving and a hit and run.
This accident is the latest in a string of hit and runs in Medford, many of which involved alcohol.
Budreau says the weather may be to blame.
"It's warmer," Budreau said. "More people seem to be drinking and it seems like more people are driving as well. But what's more concerning is the amount of people that are crashing their cars."
Budreau says the drunk drivers who take off from a scene just end up with more charges.
Nearly two weeks ago Leta Schroeder ran away from an accident near the Rogue Valley Mall that left one dead and six others hurt.
Schroeder is facing charges including manslaughter, a hit and run and reckless driving.
"What could happen is what happened this last week," Budreau said. "We've had people die, we've had people injured, we've had property damage. We have people charged with many more crimes then just the DUII."
Budreau says they made about 550 drunk driving arrests last year, which he says was much higher than average. So far this year officers have arrested 265 suspected drunk drivers.
