The accident happened around 11:53 p.m. Tuesday in the 2200 block of Pioneer Road, according to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff's office.
Jamie Walls, 33, of Medford was traveling east on Pioneer Road when police say she lost control and veered off the road. The car went through a fence and rolled into the Talent Irrigation District canal.
Two other people were in the car with Walls.
One man was able to climb out of the car, but the other two had to extricated.
Walls was pronounced dead at the scene. The two passengers were taken to Asante Rogue Valley Medical Center for treatment.
The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team responded and started investigating. They believe speed is a factor, but do not know if drugs or alcohol played a role.
Sheriff officials say one of the passengers was cited for possession of methamphetamine.
The case is still under investigation.
