Good visibility allowed fire officials to call in air tankers and helicopters. Fire officials say they were able to use the helicopters for six hours.
On the ground, firefighters continued to hold the fire within containment lines.
Lightning ignited the Bagley Fire on Aug. 18. To date, the fire has burned 37,582 acres and is 24 percent contained. It is about four miles west of Big Bend. The fire has burned about 26,147 acres of U.S. Forest Service land and 11,433 acres of private land.
A spot fire was found near Forest Road on the fire's northeast flank. Crews responded and kept it from reaching the road. Firefighters also removed unburned fuels between the fire and the containment line.
Crews are building additional fire lines west of the McCloud Reservoir to protect resources northwest of the fire.
Fire officials are concerned about the wind. The forecast is calling for increasing winds from the southwest that could have gusts up to 20 mph.
Increased wind could mean more active fire behavior.
Fire officials will meet with the community at 6 p.m. Friday at the McCloud Elementary School, 332 Hamilton Way in McCloud.
