Fire crews responded to a fire in the 400 block of Haylees Drive at 4:16 p.m. Tuesday.
It was reported by a neighbor who attempted to extinguish the fire with a garden hose while waiting for fire crews. He realized the hose was no match for the fire.
When crews arrived, the fire was burning the front of the home and the deck was fully involved, according to a press release from Rural/Metro Fire Department.
Firefighters made quick and aggressive attack to extinguish a majority of the fire. However, the fire had spread to the attic crawl space.
"The attic spaces in manufactured home are made out of 2-inch-by-2-inch laminated lumber and are glued together," Rural/Metro spokesman Mike Shaw said. "They don't take heat well and the fire tends to make quick progression through attic spaces of these homes."
Crews were able to dowse the flames and recover some personal items from the bedrooms. However, officials say many items were heavily damaged by smoke and heat. Investigators believe the house will be deemed a total loss.
No one was home when the fire started and no one was hurt.
Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause.
