Around 12:17 a.m. Thursday, fire crews from Medford Fire and Rescue responded to a small fire in the alley north of the 800 block of West Second Street.
Crews extinguished the fire that burned some landscaping, according to a press release from the Medford Police Department.
At 3:04 a.m., fire crews responded to a different fire in the same alleyway. This time police also responded.
The second fire was about 200 feet from the first fire.
Police say the second fire burned a large grassy area and a wood fence, which was attached to two residences. Fire crews kept the fire from spreading to the homes.
While in the alley, investigators found evidence of a third fire to a wood fence. They determined it happened two weeks ago.
At this point, police believe the fires are arson and are investigating.
