Grand jury indicts man on sex abuse charges
MEDFORD, Ore. -- A day after a grand jury indicted a man on sex abuse charges, Medford Police arrested him.
A Jackson County grand jury indicted Christian Alexander Sanchez, 20, of Medford on sex abuse charges as well as online sexual corruption of a child. The charges stem from an investigation that started in May.
The investigation started when Medford Police arrested Sanchez on sex abuse complaints, according to a press release from the Medford Police Department. Sanchez was released.
Through their investigation, police learned that a dozen underage victims were involved. The victims ranged from 13 years old to 16 years old.
Police say Sanchez met the victims through social media websites. They allege he communicated with them via Facebook and text messaging applications.
The communication, they say, involved receiving sexually explicit photographs of nude underage girls, the press release said.
Police believe that Sanchez engaged in sexual activity with three of the victims.
Police found and arrested Sanchez on the grand jury charges on Thursday.
The grand jury charges include unlawful penetration in the second degree, first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree sexual abuse, two counts of attempted sodomy in the first degree, coercion, fourth-degree assault, third-degree sexual abuse, online sexual corruption of a child, third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy.
His bail has been set at $1 million.
