The robbery happened around 10:25 p.m. Friday at the Shilo Inn, 2111 Biddle Road, according to a press release from the Medford Police Department.
Police say the suspect entered the inn and approached the desk clerk, who was alone.
The man then produced a knife and demanded money, the press release said. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect was last seen heading east across Biddle toward the Food 4 Less; he was on foot.
Police say the suspect is a white adult male that is in his mid 30s to early 40s. He is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and has a medium build. Police say he has several days growth facial hair -- salt and pepper in color. He was last seen wearing a red baseball cap, green army jacket and blue jeans.
