WHITE CITY, Ore -- Two people died and four others were injured Friday night in a car accident on Highway 140. Oregon State Police released the names of the victims involved in the two car crash on Saturday.
The Honda's 25-year-old female passenger, Larisa Bailey from Klamath Falls, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 34-year-old female driver, Kristi Duncan from Klamath Falls, was transported by air ambulance to Rogue Valley Regional Medical Center where she died. Both victims were not using safety restraints.
Two adult male passengers were transported to Rogue Valley Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. They are identfied as Kenneth Tevald,39, from Weathersfield CT, and Dennis J. Gillespie, 23, from Klamath Falls. Gillespie was transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield.
The Toyota's 37-year old driver, Jacob Layer, and his 8-year old son, Joel Layer, were transported by ambulance to Rogue Valley Regional Medical Center. Their injuries are non-life threatening.
The accident happen about eighteen miles east of Highway 62. A preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred on an icy section of the Highway 140. The eastbound Toyota pickup crossed the center line and was struck in the right side by the westbound Honda Passport.
Highway 140 was closed for more than five hours. OSP troopers from the Central Point Area Command office are continuing the investigation.
