BROOKINGS, Ore.-The Curry County Board of Commissioners is set to make a decision on whether or not to fix Sundown Drive, after it slid off the side of a hill.
Residents on Sundown Drive are concerned about fixing the road after a storm caused it to slide on Nov. 20.
The County's Road Master, Dan Crumley, argued that the road is public, except when it comes to road maintenance of Sundown Drive, which he said, is not the responsibility of the county, but of the road's residents.
Residents fired back that the road is used by the public, and by many city, county and state agencies. The community said it is unsafe and that this is not routine maintenance, but a one-time fix it cannot afford.
The issue is on the agenda for Wednesday's Curry County Board of Commissioners meeting at 10 a.m. in the Courthouse Annex at 94235 Moore Street in Gold Beach.
The meeting is open to the public.
Sundown Drive resident, Jack McGahey said, "I hope that what is accomplished is that the the Board of Commissioners execute their leadership responsibility without i.e. listening to appointed representatives of the county i.e. the road commissioner, the county council and whoever they may listen to."
News 10 contacted Curry County Commissioner, David Itzen, but he declined to comment until after meeting, during which he said he expects a decision will be made on the matter.
