Chris MacCallum's body was found in northern Siskiyou County south of Applegate Lake in November. At that time, the Siskiyou County Sheriff's office began investigating. Patricia is facing a murder charge stemming from Chris's death.
Detective Sgt. James Randall said the victim had between eight and nine bullet holes in the body. One bullet had severed his spinal cord and two had pierced the heart.
The victim also had bullet wounds in the shoulder and wrist. These bullets -- or their fragments -- were still in the body.
Police were able determine the bullets' caliber by using the bullet from the shoulder. They determined it was a .40 caliber.
Randall said police recovered .40 caliber ammunition from Patricia. The box was for 50 rounds and had 15 missing.
A tent used by the couple to camp, had 11 bullet holes on the bottom and another hole 1 inch above the ground on the side.
At this time, Randall said they had not recovered the gun. The county's dive leader has determined the water in the area is too dangerous to send a team in to search. They are still assessing for when it will be safe.
Patrica has been charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon and corporal injury to a spouse.
Her step-sister, Amber Lubbers, pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact on Thursday.
