The incident happened Thursday around 4:01 p.m. Police say the suspect allegedly took a pair of $40 shoes and left the store.
Two employees attempted to detain the man, according to a press release from the Medford Police Department. The man tried to run.
Police say a struggle between the employees and the suspect followed. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Shigh Anthone Davis of Medford, head-butted and bit two employees.
Additional employees from the store and two bystanders got into the scuffle.
During the fight, police say Davis allegedly reached into his waistband and threatened to kill everyone.
The employees and bystanders were finally able to get the suspect into handcuffs, the press release said.
Police found a 9 mm handgun in Davis's waistband. The gun was loaded, according to the press release.
Witnesses told police they believe Davis was trying to get the gun but was unable because of their actions.
Davis was arrested on the suspicion of robbery, theft, unlawful possession of a firearm, disorderly conduct, assault and harassment.
