MEDFORD, Ore -- Police say they have the man responsible for four bank robberies behind bars. Saturday afternoon officers arrested Christopher Wood after employees at the US Bank on North Phoenix road recognized him when he came in.
Lt. Mike Budreau with Medford Police says the suspect's first robbery was at the same US Bank branch back in December of 2012. He then hit up the branch again at the end of the month. Investigators think Wood is also responsible for robbing the Sterling Silvers Bank branch on Steward avenue twice as well, most recently on January 25th, 2013.
When Wood came into the US Bank Saturday afternoon employees there recognized the man, and called police while he was waiting in line. When he got up to the teller, he told them he wanted to open an account and then split. Budreau says officers picked him up a little while later. Wood lives in Medford and at him home police found clothing matching the descriptions given in the robbery cases. The suspect later admitted to the robberies.
Wood is lodged in the Jackson County jail on $4 million bail, facing four counts of robbery in the first degree.
