MEDFORD, Ore.-Representatives of several local wineries headed to Portland last week to mingle with their colleagues up North.
Over 1,500 people attended the Oregon Wine Board's second annual Oregon Wine Industry Symposium last week at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.
A local Oregon Wine Board member, Michael Donovan, said the goal is to educate those in the industry to grow fruit, make and sell wine. Donovan said attendees can get "insides into how we can be better grape growers, how we can make better wine and how we can more effectively market Oregon wine not only in the state of Oregon, but uh, across the United States and internationally."
RoxyAnn Winery, Cliff Creek Cellars and Troon and Del Rio Vineyards are among the local wineries that attended.
Michael Donovan said the state has broken into a new market, now able to process 42,000 tons of fruit and produce more than 2 million cases of wine.
