Hillcrest burglary suspects escape detection
MEDFORD, Ore.-- The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is looking for two men suspected of stealing a car and breaking into two homes.
Jackson County deputies were first dispatched to the 6300 block of Hillcrest Rd. in Medford at 12:05 Monday. A homeowner called 911 to report two male suspects were inside his garage. The homeowners had heard a noise and confronted the burglars, who then ran away.
It was determined the burglars stole money, two cameras and vehicle keys from an unlocked vehicle parked in the garage. They had gained entry through an unlocked side door.
While checking the area for the suspects, a Jackson County Sheriff's deputy located a black BMW in a ditch near the intersection of Sun Ridge Estates and Hillcrest Road. It was found to be an abandoned stolen vehicle, according to a press release. That case was handed over to Medford Police Department.
At the same time, a second report of a burglary in progress was called into dispatch. Several deputies responded to a home in the 6000 block of Hillcrest Rd. in Medford. Homeowners there told deputies they had confronted two masked men inside their home using a fire poker, according to the press release. The suspects had run out the back door, according to the homeowners.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office K9 teams looked for the suspects, but were unable to pick up a scent due to the rain.
The suspects are described as white males in their mid-20s with scruffy facial hair and dark clothing. One of the suspects is reported to have large gauges in his ears.
