What Women Want: Getting rid of unwanted hair
It's an idea most women just dream about: no more shaving legs, bikini area or under arms. A new service is gaining popularity at King Aesthetics in Medford and making that dream a reality.
Apparently though, laser hair therapy isn't just for women. Mike Ussary signed up for King Aesthetics' hairy back competition and won. His prize was 6 laser treatments.
"I don't go without my shirt very often, but I thought, what a treat now that I'm in better shape, lost some weight and not have someone say, hey you need to manscape that back." Ussary said about the service.
Aestheticians say the therapy either permanently reduces or completely removes hair.
"If someone has lighter skin with darker hair, they're the perfect candidate, although we can use laser on darker skin, too," said Maggie Johnson with King Aesthetics.
Johnson says the therapy has not only made life easier for many women just not wanting to shave anymore, but for others, it's changed their life. Some of her female clients get hair on their face and they have to shave everyday. With laser hair therapy, that burden is gone.
"That's probably my most joyful experience, to free a woman from having to shave everyday," Johnson said.
Aestheticians suggest 6 treatments every 4 to 6 weeks and then maintenance after that.
