A Great 2008 for Grants Pass Downs
Shortened Season Still Successful
The 2008 season proved to be yet another success at Grants Pass Downs, making it hard to believe that just two years ago the track was in jeopardy of continuing racing because of financial woes.
Though some numbers were down from last year the track averaged nearly 200 more people in attendance this time around for each race.
This season's average handle was just over $48,000 down from last year's $52,000.
With the slow economy and the uncertainty of the future of Portland Meadows, the biggest horse racing track in the state, things turned out remarkably well at Grants Pass Downs according to it's Director of Communications and Marketing Tag Witherspoon.
